Native Apple M1 silicon support
DeNoise AI is the first of our three Image Quality apps to gain native Apple M1 support, joining Video Enhance AI. By optimizing DeNoise AI for Apple’s integrated “System on a Chip” architecture, we are able to provide Apple M1, M1 Pro, and M1 Max users with even faster performance. Everything from app load times, single image editing, and batch processing will be between 20-30% faster.
In our first benchmark test, I compared the time it took to load DeNoise AI v3.4 from a cold boot using both the native M1 and Rosetta versions. As you can see, the native M1 build provides a 59% faster load time when compared to the Rosetta emulation version.
Next, I wanted to compare processing speeds for a resource-intensive task. I opened 10 Sony a7R IV RAW files, each at 60.4-megapixels, and had DeNoise AI run a batch process to apply the RAW model and auto settings for each image. When compared to an equivalent 16” Intel-based MacBook Pro, the 14” MacBook Pro with the M1 Max processor completed the batch process 70% faster and the 13” MacBook Pro with the M1 processor completed the same task 55% faster.
We’re very excited to offer these performance boosts for our Apple M1 users and look forward to bringing the same native M1 support to Sharpen AI and Gigapixel AI in the coming weeks.
Expanded RAW file support
We’ve updated our RAW library to add support for a variety of new camera models from many major manufacturers. Owners of new model cameras such as the Sony a1, Canon EOS R5/R6, the FujiFilm GFX 50S II, GFX 100S, and X-E4 can now open their RAW files directly in DeNoise AI and get exceptional noise reduction. We’ve also updated DeNoise AI to better handle Fuji files when checking if the RAW model is available. Click here to see the full list of new cameras that we now support in DeNoise AI.
AI Engine performance and stability improvements
We’ve made a lot of changes to the front-end and back-end of DeNoise AI, making it run faster and more reliably on both Mac and Windows computers. An update to our AI Engine will benefit all DeNoise AI users by reducing memory usage and providing faster processing performance. On the Mac, we’ve streamlined the installer process to simply dragging the app icon to your Applications folder. We’ve also improved the way we handle EXIF information to support a greater number of tags. And, of course, we’ve squashed a bunch of annoying bugs to make your experience using DeNoise AI much more stable.
